Green River County
Detention Center
EXT. GREEN RIVER COUNTY DETENTION CENTER - DAY
Inmates are shown playing basketball, cards, working out and simply standing around talking.
INT. GREEN RIVER COUNTY DETENTION CENTER
There are construction workers in a cell block, one is welding a door open as two more walk up.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1
Well, this makes a lot of sense, first they close down the cell block and now they open it back up again. Here's your tax dollars at work huh?
They arrive at the door that is being opened with the blow torch, and CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1 hands his flashlight to CONSTRUCTION WORKER #2.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1
Here.
The welder stops and stands back a bit.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1
You got that ready?
He pulls hard and when the welder helps with a crowbar, the door finally gives and opens. Both construction workers walk in looking around with their flashlights.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1
Yikes! I would've hate to gotten thrown in here.
The air gets cold, and their next breaths are visible from the temperature drop. A breath exhaling is heard.
CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1
Hey you feel that man?
CONTRUCTION WORKER #2 looks at him with confusion. Another breath is heard, and CONSTRUCTION WORKER #1 moves sideways as his eyes get wide like something is pushing past him. Then out in the hallway outside the cell that they are in a wind blows papers off the table there.
WELDER
Whoa, what was that?
INT. GREEN RIVER COUNTY DETENTON CENTER - NIGHT
The camera pans across another cell block that has inmates in it.
INT. RANDALL'S CELL
RANDALL is reading a book on his bed, and the lights begin to flicker above his bed. He looks out into the hall and the lights out there are flickering too. He gets up and makes his way to the door of his cell, looking out through the small window filled with prison bars. The clock up on the wall ticks loudly, but stops abruptly. A figure moves past the bars outside of the cell and Randall moves back from the window.
RANDALL
Oh...
RANDALL moves back to the window in his cell door, and looks up at the camera trying to get the guards attention.
RANDALL
Hey! Hey guard! Hey!
INT. GUARD ROOM - NIGHT
The surveillance cameras show a grid of four cameras, and the one on RANDALL's cell is in the top left corner of the grid, and it is flickering with static, while the others are staying stationary. GUARD #1 is reading something off of a clipboard and chewing some food. He catches the movement of RANDALL's hands between the bars of his cell door and turns on the speaker and hears RANDALL's yells.
RANDALL (V.O.)
Come on guard! Hey! Guard! Hey! Hey!
GUARD #1 reaches for the radio attached to his shoulder.
GUARD #1
Going down to B block. Randall again.
GUARD #2 (V.O.)
Copy that.
GUARD #1 gets up and walks out of the room.
EXT. RANDALL'S CELL
RANDALL
Hey! Guard! Hey!
INMATE #1 (V.O.)
Shut up old man!
INMATE #2 (V.O.)
Come on Randall, I'm trying to sleep.
RANDALL
You tellin' me you didn't see that?! What are you blind?! Hey!
A nightstick slams against the door of RANDALL's cell causing RANDALL to jump back.
GUARD #1
Randall, cool it.
RANDALL
Cool it my ass man, there's somebody out there.
GUARD #1
Randall turn out your light and go to sleep, I'm not gonna say it again.
INT. RANDALL'S CELL - NIGHT
RANDALL nods his head and back away into his cell. He makes his way back to his bed, scratching his head as GUARD #1 watches. RANDALL shuts off the light after he lies down and GUARD #1 seems satisfied and walks away from the cell door.
INT. CELL BLOCK B - NIGHT
GUARD #1 turns away from the cell door, and talks into his radio at his shoulder again.
GUARD #1
Lights out B block.
GUARD #2
Copy that, lights out.
The lights go out, and GUARD #1 makes his way out of cell block B. As he walks a figure with stringy hair starts to follow closely behind him. GUARD #1 turns around, but no one is there. He continues toward the exit and we hear the breath same as before, and the guards' next breath can be seen due to the drop in temperature. GUARD #1 turns around again and there is still nothing there. He is standing in the doorway of the cell block and the iron door slams shut on his arm. He screams and while his arm is pinned in the door, he turns around to look at cell block B again, and sees something. He begins to struggle against the door that is pinning his arm.
GUARD #1
No! No! No! No! No!
The camera pans back to the front of RANDALL'S cell door and we see RANDALL watching through the bars trying to see what is happening looking scared.
GUARD #1 (V.O.)
No! No! No! No! No! No! Aah! No!

INT. ARKANSAS MUSEUM OF ANTHROPOLOGY - NIGHT
SUBTITLE
Three Months Later
Dean enters the museum with his flashlight scanning around, and Sam follows close behind with his flashlight also searching the inside of the museum.
DEAN
This way
DEAN and SAM make their way into the museum.
SAM
I hate this plan Dean.
DEAN
Yeah, I got that the first ten times I heard it.
DEAN and SAM continue deeper into the museum looking around with their flashlights. As hey walk past a sensor near the floor on a wall, it turns red. The camera switches to Sam picking the lock on a glass case and removing a small axe from it. Dean is behind him taking a knife out of another case and looking at it. They both hear something, and SAM gestures with his head to DEAN and they make their way out toward the noise, leaving the knife and small axe behind. They turn the corner and a flashlight shines in their faces.
COP #1
Freeze!
DEAN and SAM turn around to another two cops behind them so they turn to go back down the hall they just came from and
COP #2
Hold it.
COP #1
I said freeze!
COP #3
Hold it right there.
COP #1
Put your hands behind your head and get down on your knees, now!
The two cops in front of them keep their guns trained on DEAN and SAM as the ones that have caught up from behind cuff DEAN and SAM.
INT. LITTLE ROCK POLICE STATION - NIGHT
SAM is standing with a placard taking his mug shot.
POLICE PHOTOGRAPHER
Front, to the right.
DEAN is now taking his mug shot.
DEAN
I call this one blue steel.
POLICE PHOTOGRAPHER
Yeah, that's great, to the right. Okay, back to the line-up.
DEAN
Wait, who looks better, me or Nick Nolte?
POLICE PHOTOGRAPHER
Shut up.
INT. POLICE STATION INTERROGATION ROOM - NIGHT
DEAN is sitting at the table waiting for the police to come in. The door opens and AGENT HENRICKSEN and AGENT REIDY walk in.
DEAN
Well, it's about time, I'll have a cheeseburger, extra onions.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
You think you're funny?
DEAN
I think I'm adorable.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
It is a pleasure to finally meet you in person Dean, I'm Special Agent Victor Henricksen this is my partner Special Agent Reidy.
DEAN
Henricksen? Not the Milwaukee Agent Henricksen?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Live and in person.
DEAN looks down and scoffs chuckling slightly to himself. AGENT HENRICKSEN pulls a picture of DEAN out of the manila folder he is holding and shows it to DEAN.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Ahh, Nice shot.
AGENT HENRICKSEN tosses the photo onto the table in front of DEAN.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
You can hang that up in your cell at super-max.
DEAN
Alright, maybe we can just forget the cheeseburger huh?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Aww, yeah, keep that game face on, try and cover up how cornered you are. Read him the charges.
AGENT REIDY
Well, we got mail fraud, credit card fraud, grave desecration.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
AGENT REIDY
Armed robbery, kidnapping, and uh, oh, three counts of first degree murder.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
And after Milwaukee, your brother is now a suspect in a murder case himself. I'd say for you two, screwed to hell is a major understatement.
DEAN
Well, where there's life there's hope, huh?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Ahh, see that's what I was thinking when I was searching for your asses all over hell and gone. Your Dad taught you well, the way you cover your tracks, and after Milwaukee the way you guys-
ANGENT HENRICKSEN whistles and makes a gesture with his hand.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Vanished. I near went nuts trying to find you, ask him.
AGENT REIDY
He near went nuts.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
And after all that, you get tripped up on a motion detector, pretty rookie move. Gotta say, I was...surprised.
The door to the room opens and a woman comes in, halting the conversation and attracting DEAN's attention.
MARA
Dean Winchester?
DEAN
In the flesh.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
And you are?
MARA
Mara Daniels, public defender's office, I've been assigned to you and your brothers' case.
MARA shakes DEAN's hand and looks up between the two F.B.I. agents flanking the table.
MARA
Are you Henricksen?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Yeah, and we're not quite done here.
MARA
Uh-yeah, you are. And if you don't mind, I would like to meet with my clients, privately.
INT. INTERROGATION ROOM - NIGHT
MARA
Unfortunately, your arraignment on the breaking and entering charge won't be until Tuesday.
DEAN
And they'll keep us in the county jail?
MARA
That's right.
SAM
Green River County Detention Center?
MARA
Yes. And considering the charges you're facing, no judge in his right mind is going to grant you bail.
DEAN
Yeah, we figured that.
MARA
Extradition papers have already been filed from five separate states, Missouri and Wisconsin being the biggest concern, the bank robbery and the murder raps.
SAM
How long can we stall extradition?
MARA
A week, maybe less.
EXT. GREEN RIVER COUNTY DETENTION CENTER - DAY
Green Onions by Booker T and the M.G.'s plays as the doors to the prison bus open and inmates chained together start getting off, DEAN is second and SAM is third.
PRISON GUARD
Alright, let's go. Watch your step. Come on, keep moving.
As they pass the yard where all the inmates are, the prisoners are yelling at them and making catcalls.
One particularly BURLY PRISONER points to Sam as he walks by.
BURLY PRISONER
You're mine!
DEAN
Don't worry Sammy, I won't trade you for smokes.
INT. CELL BLOCK - DAY
Two prison guards are walking on either side of the line of prisoners in orange jumpsuits assigning them to cells. DEAN gets assigned with a random prisoner and follows the guy in.
DEAN
I call top bunk.
The long haired scruffy prisoner gives DEAN a look and places his own stuff on the top bunk.
DEAN
Okay.
DEAN turns around to see SAM enter the cell across from him. SAM nods at the inmate who stands up and is much larger than SAM who turns around to the door as it is shutting with a worried look on his face.
INT. CELL BLOCK - DAY
There is a line of prisoners waiting to go into the lunch hall, being security scanned by the prison guards one by one. The camera pans the line and finds DEAN and SAM a little way back in the line. The have the following conversation in hushed voices as they move through the line towards the cafeteria.
DEAN
My roommate doesn't say much, how's yours?
SAM
He just keeps staring at me, in a way that makes me really uneasy.
DEAN
Sounds like you're making new friends.
SAM
Dean, this is without a doubt the dumbest craziest thing we've ever done, and that's in a long storied career of dumb and crazy.
DEAN
Calm down, it's all part of the plan.
SAM
Oh, really? So Henricksen showing up was part of the plan?
DEAN
Yeah, that guy moves a little faster than I thought. Look, all we gotta do is find this ghost, put the sucker down, then grab ourselves a couple of those teardrop tattoos.
SAM
That's not funny. Dean, what about this escape plan? It...?
DEAN
It's 100% sure thing, I wouldn't have gone in if it wasn't. I mean, come on man, this place has all the signs of a haunting. Innocent people are dead, four so far.
SAM
Yeah, innocent.
DEAN
You from Texas all of a sudden? Just because these people are in jail doesn't mean they deserve to die. If we don't stop this thing, people are gonna continue to die. We do the job, wherever it takes us.
SAM
Look, Dean, just be straight with me alright? You're doing this for Deacon.
DEAN
Damn right.
SAM
Well, you barely even know the guy.
DEAN
We know he was in the corps with Dad. We know he saved Dad's life, we know we owe him.
SAM
Yeah, alright, but don't you think he's asking a little much?
DEAN
It doesn't matter. We may not be saints, but we're loyal and we pay our debts. Now, that means something to me, and it ought to to you. Look, I'm not thrilled about this either man, but Deacon asked us to hunt this thing down, and that's exactly what we're gonna do.
INT. PRISON DINING HALL
SAM is sniffing a forkful of pasta and tosses it down on his plate. DEAN catches the motion even though he is digging into his own tray of food.
DEAN
You know, this chicken isn't half bad.
SAM
Great. Finish mine.
SAM shoves his tray across the small table to DEAN and begins to talk about the case as DEAN reaches and grabs the chicken from SAM's plate putting it on his own.
SAM
Alright, so let's go back over this Dean. Spirit suspect number one is Mark Moody right?
DEAN
Yeah. Psycho-killer extraordinaire. Satanism. Ritual murder. Died in jail.
SAM
Are you sure it's him?
DEAN
Pretty sure.
SAM
Dean, considering our circumstances, I'm gonna need a little bit better than pretty sure.
DEAN
Really pretty sure.
SAM looks unconvinced and DEAN stops eating momentarily to explain.
DEAN
Moody died of a heart attack, which is exactly what all the victims in here are dying of okay? He died in the old cellblock, which they closed right after he croaked, about 30 years ago. They just opened that back up, that's when the killings started.
SAM
So, you think his spirit was released somehow?
DEAN
Mm-hmm.
SAM
What if he was already cremated?
DEAN
I'm guessing there's something in the old block that belongs to him, that's keeping him around. Whatever it is, we gotta find it, and you know the rest. I'm done.
DEAN gets up and leads the way out of the cafeteria, but SAM looks back at the trays, not sure if they are supposed to pick them up and take them back or not, and while he is looking back at the table, he runs into the BURLY PRISONER from before at the gate.
SAM
Sorry, I...
BURLY PRISONER
Watch where you're going
SAM
Yeah, sure I just...
DEAN comes back to help.
DEAN
He said he was sorry.
SAM
Dean.
BURLY PRISONER
You talking to me?
DEAN just gets in his face and stares him down, but the guy doesn't catch on.
BURLY PRISONER
Are you talking to me?
DEAN
Great, another guy who's seen Taxi Driver one too many times. Yeah, I'm talking to you. Trust me, let it go.
The BURLY PRISONER turns around and walks away.
SAM
Dean, come on.
DEAN turns around to face SAM looking pleased with himself.
DEAN
See, that's how you gotta talk to these guys, instant respect.
The BURLY PRISONER taps a much bigger guy on the shoulder and whispers to him, and they both head toward DEAN as SAM notices it coming, he nods towards the two guys advancing on DEAN.
SAM
You were saying?
DEAN turns around to see them coming understanding what has happened.
DEAN
Oh, great.
The BURLY PRISONER tries to punch DEAN, but DEAN catches his arm and locks it.
DEAN
We can end this right now. No harm no foul.
The BURLY PRISONER doesn't listen and the fight continues.
GUARD #1
That's enough!
The GUARD walks over to where the scuffle has ended, with the BURLY PRISONER on his back, and DEAN standing over him.
GUARD #1
On your feet Lucas.
BURLY PRISONER (now known as LUCAS)
Yes sir, boss.
The GUARD walks to Dean, putting his baton under DEAN's chin, lifting it up.
GUARD #1
What's your name?
DEAN
Winchester.
GUARD #1
Well, Winchester, not a good start. Solitary, you too Lucas.
LUCAS
Yes, sir.
DEAN gets led away by another guard as well as LUCAS, but talks to SAM on his way out.
DEAN
Are we having fun yet, huh?
As DEAN and LUCAS get led off to solitary, LUCAS' friend that he tapped to help him makes the ‘cutting throat' motion at SAM who looks worried and frustrated.
INT. CELLBLOCK - NIGHT
INT. SOLITARY CELL - NIGHT
The camera pans up on DEAN, ho is leaning against the wall of the solitary cell.
DEAN
I wish I had a baseball.
LUCAS
What? What did you say?
DEAN
I said, I wish I had a baseball. You know, like Steve McQueen.
LUCAS
Yeah? Well, I wish I had a bat, so I could bash your frickin' head in.
DEAN
Okay. Well, so much for the ‘bonding-in-solitary' moment.
DEAN leans back against the cell wall as the lights flicker, and a puff of steam comes out of his mouth. The lights flicker more, and DEAN looks through the door of his cell up to the clock on the wall that stops ticking.
DEAN
Lucas, listen to me, stay very still.
LUCAS goes to the door of his cell to look through and the eyes of the GHOST appear in front of him, and he turns around and the GHOST is there, veins pop on LUCAS's face as he screams and DEAN looks through his door in horror.
INT. LITTLE ROCK POLICE STATION - DAY
AGENT HENRICKSEN and AGENT REIDY are working (presumably) on the Winchester case files at two desks in an office, MARA knocks on the door jamb as she walks into the door frame.
MARA
Henricksen?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Hey, Daniels.
MARA
Can I have a word?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Have a seat. What's on your mind?
MARA
I've been going through the Winchester charges, and I gotta say, there are some weird inconsistencies.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Welcome to my world.
MARA
I talked to a cop in Baltimore who swears up and down these boys saved her life and helped her catch a killer. And there's a witness to your bank robbery in Milwaukee, she swears Sam and Dean saved her life.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Saved her from what?
MARA
She was a little unclear on that.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
That's because she's nuts. Look, I was in Milwaukee. I spoke to her, I spoke to all the witnesses.
MARA
And?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
And, all I know is, wherever these guys go, people die. It's that simple.
MARA
I don't know that it is. They just don't seem cut and dry guilty to me. I think there's more to this.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Like what?
MARA
I don't know. I can't out my finger on it, it's just strange.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Strange. Yeah, okay. Grownups are trying to get some work done here, so if you don't mind.
AGENT HENRICKSEN gives her s look and MARA gets up and leaves.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - DAY
SAM is mopping the floor with RANDALL doing the same behind him.
SAM
How you doing?
RANDALL
I'm 54 years old, mopping the floor of a crapper with bars on the windows. How do you think I'm doing?
SAM
Alright, bad ice-breaker. I'm Sam.
RANDALL
Randall.
SAM
Nice to meet you. Randall? Hey weren't you there the night that guard died?
RANDALL
Yeah.
SAM
Well what happened?
RANDALL
They say the stress of the job got him.
SAM
Yeah? What do you say?
RANDALL stops mopping and looks at SAM who is smiling at him.
RANDALL
Why are you inside, kid?
SAM
Cause I got an idiot for a brother.
RANDALL
That'll do it.
SAM
Yeah.
RANDALL
Well, this place ain't so bad. Compared to the old cellblock, this is the damn Hilton.
SAM
You spent time in the old block?
RANDALL
Oh, yeah, I was a regular customer.
SAM
Didn't they have Mark Moody over there for a while?
RANDALL
He was there. You know I was there too the night that lunatic bought it.
SAM
Yeah? It was a heart attack right?
RANDALL
Sure his heart stopped right after the guards stopped using his head for batting practice. Next morning I was in his cell mopping up the blood. What a mess.
SAM
Wait, so he-he was beaten and nobody reported it?
RANDALL
You kept your mouth shut unless you wanted to die from the same heart attack, you know?
SAM
Randall...exactly how much blood was there?
EXT. PRISON YARD - DAY
DEAN is sitting at a table with cards laid out on the table in front of him.
DEAN
Call.
PRISONER
Three aces.
DEAN
That's a bad beat, that is a bad beat, but see, I'm full. Three's over aces.
The PRISONER stands up pounding his fist on the table in anger.
DEAN
Ha-ha I'm sorry, hey it's a cruel game my friend.
The PRISONER leaves the table.
DEAN
Sorry guys.
SAM sits down across from DEAN.
DEAN
It's like picking low hanging fruit.
SAM
You don't even smoke.
DEAN
Are you kidding me? This is the currency of the realm.
SAM
Look, I got a good lead on Moody.
DEAN
Yeah, me too. His spirit paid a little visit last night.
SAM
What?
DEAN
Clock-stop, flickering lights, cold spot. I mean, he did everything but yell “Boo”.
SAM
Well, what happened?
DEAN
He walked right by me, Lucas wasn't so lucky. I mean the way he was screaming... The guy was a jerk, but he didn't deserve to go like that. What'd you find out on Moody?
SAM
Yeah, so I think I know where we might find his remains, blood in his old cell.
DEAN
Blood? I thought it was a heart attack.
SAM
It was, after the guards worked him over, I mean, apparently there was so much blood in there they had trouble mopping it out.
DEAN
How we gonna get in?
SAM
I got a plan.
DEAN
That's the Sammy I know! Come on man, you're like Clint Eastwood in Escape from Alcatraz.
SAM
The problem is, if even if we do find something, how are we gonna burn it? We don't have any accelerant.
DEAN
It's a good thing I'm like James Garner from The Great Escape.
DEAN stands up and grabs two hand fulls of the cigarettes he has won playing poker.
DEAN
Hey fellas, who's ready to deal?
INT. PRISON DINING HALL - DAY
DEAN and SAM are in the food line with their trays.
DEAN
You sure about this?
SAM
Pretty sure.
DEAN
Yeah, well, considering the circumstances, I'd like a little better than ‘pretty sure'.
SAM
Okay, really pretty sure.
SAM walks away from DEAN who slides his plate along to where a prisoner is dishing out pasta.
DEAN
I'd like mine al dente.
The prisoner slaps some on DEAN's plate and pours on sauce messily.
DEAN
Perfect.
DEAN makes his way over to the table that TINY is sitting at.
DEAN
Save room for dessert, Tiny. Ha-ha-ha, hey, I wanted to ask you because I couldn't help but notice that you are two tons of fun. Just curious, is that like a thyroid problem, or is that some deep-seated self-esteem issue? Because you know, they're uh, they're just donuts, they're not love.
TINY smiles and punches DEAN across the table, as SAM makes his way toward the kitchen door. DEAN hits TINY with a few punches, barely phasing him, and the TINY grabs DEAN and DEAN head butts him but grabs his head when he stumbles back. A guard tries to break up the fight, but TINY throws him on the table. The three guards that are standing by SAM go to help the other.
GUARD #1
Guys, give me a hand.
GUARD #2
Get him off.
And as the fight continues, with the guards breaking it up, SAM makes his way into the kitchen, grabbing some salt as he makes his way over to a vent in the wall and takes it out crawling through. The guards break the fight up and when DEAN is pulled up off the floor the guard that went to break it up approaches him and grabs his chin.
GUARD #1
If we waited any longer, you'd be dead.
DEAN
You waited long enough.
GUARD #1 punches him in the stomach with his nightstick, and as DEAN goes down, GUARD #1 leans down and grabs the back of DEAN's head.
GUARD #1
Do yourself a favor. Don't talk!
GUARD #1 shoves DEAN's face down, and stands up talking to the other guard that has DEAN by the arms.
GUARD #1
Take them both up to the infirmary.
INT. OLD CELLBLOCK - DAY
SAM jumps down into the old cellblock from above, and makes his way to the cell that they opened at the beginning of the episode. There is a mattress on the floor that SAM turns over and a dark stain covering a large part of it. SAM salts it and puts the accelerant o it that they got and throws a match on it burning it.
INT. PRISON INFIRMARY - NIGHT
The camera pans up to where DEAN is sitting on a bed with a cage surrounding him.
DEAN
Hey Tiny.
There is a large shadow in the cage next to DEAN's but a cloth is blocking the view, we only hear his voice.
TINY
Yeah?
DEAN
Hey, sorry about the things I was saying earlier. I can't really tell you why, but I had to get you angry.
The camera shows TINY and he smiles.
DEAN
So, uh...anyway, sorry.
The camera goes back to focusing on DEAN.
TINY
It's okay, the truth is, I have low self-esteem issues.
DEAN looks surprised as TINY gets up off the bed and comes toward the fence that is separating them.
TINY
My old man treated me and my brother like crap. Right up until the day he died.
DEAN
How'd he die?
TINY
My brother shot him.
DEAN
Okay.
DEAN looks up and sees the GHOST.
DEAN
Oh crap.
TINY
What is it?
The GHOST (clearly a woman and not Moody) dressed in a nurses uniform with stringy white hair and the same eyes as before that looked at LUCAS through his cell door comes at DEAN who shakes the door trying to get out.
TINY
What's going on?
As she gets closer he grabs the salt off his food tray and she throws him back against the wall. And he falls forward onto the floor.
DEAN
Oh, God.
TINY
What is it?
The GHOST is standing over DEAN in his cell and leans down and puts her hand on his chest, DEAN groans in pain and lifts the cap off the salt throwing it at the GHOST and it dissolves. DEAN grabs his chest and rolls over on the floor. There is movement in TINY's cage.
TINY
No! NO!
DEAN
Tiny!
DEAN gets up and faces TINY who has his arms spread on the cage and is yelling in pain.
DEAN
Tiny!
DEAN grabs the door to the cage and rattles it as TINY continues to scream in pain.
DEAN
Guard! Guard!
EXT. PRISON YARD - DAY
DEAN and SAM are walking across the prison yard talking.
SAM
So, wait, you're telling me it wasn't Moody?
DEAN
Not unless he liked going around dressed like a nurse. Poor Tiny, man. Poor, giant Tiny.
SAM
So wait, this is like the ghost of some nurse who worked here or something?
DEAN
I don't know man, I guess.
SAM
You know what Dean? At this point “I don't know I guess” isn't really working for me. See, uh, I thought we were done. I called Deacon, it's happening. We're getting out tonight.
DEAN
I guess we gotta do some quick research then.
SAM
How? I mean, maybe you haven't noticed, we're in jail.
EXT. PRISON YARD - DAY
RANDALL
So, you wanna know about some nurse?
SAM nods his head at RANDALL who is sitting on the bleaches facing both DEAN and SAM.
RANDALL
Why do you wanna know?
DEAN
Well we got our reasons, but uh, we'll make it worth your while.
DEAN takes out a pack of cigarettes and holds it out in front of him. RANDALL takes the pack and pockets it.
DEAN
So this nurse, she would have had white hair, one screwed-up eye. Is that ringing a bell?
RANDALL
Yeah. Yeah, I remember her.
DEAN
You remember her name?
RANDALL
No, that's still kinda fuzzy.
SAM smirks, realizing that RANDALL wants more cigarettes to give them the name, and looks at DEAN. DEAN looks back at SAM not happy.
SAM
Give it to him.
DEAN
I earned these.
SAM
Dean.
SAM shakes his head and gives DEAN a look and DEAN begrudgingly hands another pack of cigarettes over to RANDALL who takes them and starts to talk.
RANDALL
Glockner. Nurse Glockner. Nasty old bitch worked here in the 70's.
SAM
You knew her?
RANDALL
I met her once. I had to get a tetanus shot, she damn near jabbed the needle through the other side of my arm. At least I got out of there alive.
SAM
What do you mean?
RANDALL
There were these stories, I don't know if they were true. Cons love to talk but were all liars.
DEAN
What kind of stories?
RANDALL
Guys would go up to the infirmary with a cold, next thing you know, they're in a body bag. A whole rash of heart attacks. Young guys. Old guys.
SAM
Heart attacks?
RANDALL
Yeah, the story was Glockner had it out for cons and she did this Charles Bronson thing with a hypodermic. Anyway, that was the rumor, nobody ever proved anything.
DEAN
So whatever happened to Glockner?
RANDALL
I don't know. I finished my bit and left. Next time I landed in here, she was gone.
INT. PRISON DINING HALL - DAY
SAM and DEAN are sitting at a table talking.
SAM
Okay, so let's say those stories on Glockner were true.
DEAN
It's a thought. You know, in life she's a vigilante. In death, same thing.
SAM
Right, but I mean, how's she tied in with the old cell block. And if she's going after cons, why kill that one guard?
DEAN
I did hear in the yard that that one guard wasn't exactly squeaky clean. So, well, maybe she's going after anybody that breaks the law, like me.
SAM
You heard in the yard?
DEAN
Yeah.
SAM
Dean, does it bother you at all how easily you seem to fit in here?
DEAN
No, not really.
SAM
Alright, well listen. Either way, we need more info on Glockner. If she's buried. If so, where? And we got five hours to get it.
DEAN looks at SAM and sighs.
SAM
No, no, don't give me that ‘we-gotta-see-this-through look. We are leaving tonight, no matter what.
DEAN
I just don't want to let Deacon down, hat's all. I mean, we owe him.
SAM
Yeah, but we don't owe him our lives, Dean.
DEAN gets up and starts to leave.
SAM
Where are you going?
DEAN
I'm gonna go talk with our lawyer.
INT. PRISON VISITORS ROOM
MARA is looking through the visitor's glass talking into the phone to DEAN.
MARA
You want me to what?!
DEAN
Her name was Glockner, okay? She worked here as a nurse in the 70's. Now, I need you to find out everything you can about her, most importantly how she died, and where she's buried.
MARA
Are you nuts? Do you have any idea the kind of trouble you're in here?
DEAN
I have a vague notion.
MARA
Good, so let's forget about some random nurse and talk about your case.
DEAN
Mara. It's Mara, right?
MARA
Yeah.
DEAN
I get that you're trying to help me, okay? I do. But believe me when I say this is the bestway that you can help.
MARA
Really, how? Explain that to me.
DEAN
I wish I could but I can't. But I'm just gonna have to ask you to trust me on this.
MARA
Why should I? Henricksen says you're a monster.
DEAN
I'm a monster?
DEAN laughs at the irony in that.
DEAN
Well, he's wrong okay? I'm not what they say I am.
MARA
Everybody says that.
DEAN
Yeah. Look, if you're as smart a PD as I think you are, then you can tell with just one look whether or not your clients are guilty okay? Just like that. So I want you to look at me. Really look. And you tell me, am I guilty?
MARA looks at him, her conviction wavering a little.
DEAN
We're not the bad guys.
EXT. PRISON YARD - DAY
SAM is walking around the prison yard and sees DEAN coming out from his talk with MARA, and raises his hand to motion at DEAN and let him know where SAM is, heading over to meet DEAN.
SAM
She go for it?
DEAN
No, not so much. But I don't know, maybe she'll still come around.
SAM
Well, we can't wait around to find out.
DEAN
We could give it another day.
SAM
No, no, no, we're leaving tonight, and that's it.
DEAN
So we're not gonna finish the job? We're just gonna let these people die?
SAM
Don't give me that alright? This was your stupid plan, and I went along with it, but we're sticking to the plan, Dean.
DEAN
Okay, uh, you leave, I'm gonna stay.
DEAN turns around and walks away from SAM, so SAM starts to follow.
SAM
Hey, don't turn away-don't turn away from me Dean!
DEAN
Screw you.
SAM
What? Screw you.
SAM reaches out and pulls DEAN's shoulder back to turn him around, but DEAN shoves SAM hard, right into a guard. The guard holds SAM and two more come up to hold DEAN. GUARD #1 puts his night stick up under DEAN's arm and across his chest.
GUARD #1
Alright hard case. I see the usual methods ain't gonna work with you.
GUARD #1 shoves DEAN over to the other guard that came with him, and that guard cuffs DEAN. SAM, who has been cuffed by the guard that grabbed him, is then grabbed by GUARD #1 by the collar.
GUARD #1
You too sweetheart.
GUARD #1 walks with his hand on SAM's collar, and the guard that has DEAN turns him around and starts to walk out of the yard.
INT. PRISON SHOWER ROOM - DAY
The guard that had DEAN now walks them both into the room by the back of their collars and shoves them forward. GUARD #1 is right behind them.
GUARD #1
Take off. I wanna handle this alone.
The other guard nods and leaves, and GUARD #1 comes at SAM and DEAN, but smiles and grabs DEAN's side of his face.
DEAN
Deacon, you are beating the holy hell out of me, man.
DEAN and SAM turn around and stand together with their backs to GUARD #1, who has now been revealed to be DEACON.
DEACON
Sorry, Dean. I thought I was going easy on you.
DEAN laughs as DEACON takes the handcuffs off DEAN, who turns around to face DEACON once they are off.
DEACON
Just, uh, trying to make it look real.
DEACON now takes the handcuffs off of Sam who turns around to face DEACON.
DEAN
Yeah, well mission accomplished.
DEACON
So, is it over?
SAM
No, it turns out it wasn't Moody.
DEACON
What?
SAM
Yeah.
DEACON
Then who?
SAM
Uh, we think it's some nurse who used to work here. But we're still shy on all the intel we need.
DEAN
Which is why we should stick around until we find it.
DEACON reaches into his pocket, looking like he just remembered something.
DEACON
Oh, hey, guys.
SAM
You wanna have this fight for real Dean? We gotta go, we gotta go now.
DEACON
Guys-
SAM
We're leaving Dean, otherwise we'll be leaving in shackle for Milwaukee with Henricksen as company.
DEAN
Oh, come on-
DEACON
Guys!
DEAN & SAM
What?
DEACON looks amused and holds out a business sized envelope that DEAN takes from him. DEAN laughs.
DEAN
Would you look at that? Man, I am friggin' velvety smooth.
SAM
You wanna maybe open it up, after you're done, you know, patting yourself on the back?
DEAN
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
DEAN opens it up and reads the contents.
DEAN
Wow.
SAM
What? Well, you wanna share with the class Dean?
DEAN
Glockner died in the old cellblock after Moody bit it. It seems they had a little inmate uprising and she got caught in the middle. They dragged her to a solitary cell, gave her a ‘severe cerebral edema'.
SAM
Someone bashed her head in.
DEAN
Yeah.
SAM
Say where she's buried?
DEAN
Yup.
DEACON
Alright then, let's get you the hell out of here.
DEAN
Don't worry Deacon, we'll get rid of this thing.
DEACON goes over to the wall and takes off a panel and turns around to them.
DEACON
Good, cause I want it out of my prison.
DEACON walks back over to them.
DEACON
Boys, uh, I can't thank you enough for this. I know it was asking a lot, but you still came thorough. You're Daddy raised you right.
SAM
Well, we owed you.
SAM reaches out to shake his hand, but DEACON grabs him into a hug, then does the same with DEAN.
DEACON
Hope to see you again, huh? Just not in here okay?
SAM
Yeah, we'll do our best.
DEAN
Right, yeah.
DEAN and SAM make for the hole in the wall, but DEAN turns back around.
DEAN
Oh! Where do you want it?
DEACON
What?
DEAN smiles at him, and DEACON nods his head knowingly and taps his chin with his right hand.
DEACON
Yeah, um...
DEAN cocks back his fist, but DEACON stops him.
DEACON
Uh-make it look real, son.
DEAN chuckles and throws a punch as the scene ends.
EXT. PRISON - NIGHT
DEAN and SAM come up from stairs outside the side of the prison wall and hop over the top of some railing. They make their way over to where the Impala is parked.
DEAN
Oh, man are you a sight for sore eyes.
DEAN opens the drivers' door to get in as SAM goes around to the passenger side and they both take off their prison jackets.
DEAN
You know, I almost wish I could see Henricksen's face.
SAM
Really? Cause I'd be happy if I never saw him again. You know, we're not really out of the woods yet Dean, you know?
DEAN
Yeah, yeah.
As they are putting on their regular jackets the alarm sounds.
DEAN
Good point.
They get into the car and drive away as lights start roaming behind them to look for them.
INT. PRISON INTERROGATION ROOM - NIGHT
DEACON is sitting at a table.
DEACON
I told you, one of them came up behind me.
The camera pans around and AGENT HENRICKSEN is there with AGENT REIDY.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
You let them get the drop on you?
DEACON
Yeah, I screwed up alright? What do you want me to say?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
I want to know where they're headed.
DEACON
How the hell would I know?
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Let's start over again.
DEACON moves to get up.
DEACON
For God's sake-
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Again!
AGENT HENRICKSEN moves around the table and gets in DEACON's face, but DEACON stands his ground.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
I wanna know everything they did today from the minute they woke up.
DEACON
Got up. Breakfast. Visiting hours. Rec time.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Any visitors?
DEACON
Just their lawyer.
INT. LITTLE ROCK POLICE STATION - NIGHT
AGENT HENRICKSEN and AGENT REIDY are standing and MARA is sitting in a chair next to AGENT HENRICKSEN's desk.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
It's an easy question. What did you and Dean talk about?
MARA
I have already told you, it was a private conversation between me and my client.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Right. And just three hours later, he just happened to bust out. Now, tell me what he said.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
DEAN and SAM are getting shovels and stuff out of the trunk of the Impala. DEAN clicks on a flashlight and they start to move away from the car.
SAM
We gotta move it, if Henricksen gets to the lawyer-
DEAN
I thought she couldn't say anything. You know, that whole lawyer-client privilege thing.
SAM
The privilege doesn't apply, Dean.
DEAN
So, she'll talk?
SAM
She has to.
DEAN
Oh, that's friggin' super.
INT. LITTLE ROCK POLICE STATION - NIGHT
The camera shows MARA looking frustrated and nervous as AGENT HENRICKSEN starts to talk to her.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Let me make this simple. You don't come clean, I will put you on the hook for aiding and abetting.
MARA
Oh, that's ridiculous!
AGENT HENRICKSEN
You don't think that I can? You think this is some kind of game lady? I am the last person on planet Earth you wanna screw with. Now, tell me what he said.
MARA
He wanted me to do some research. On a prison nurse that dies in 1976.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
What? Why?
MARA
I don't know.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
What else?
MARA
They wanted to know where she was buried.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Did you find out where?
MARA
Yeah.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Did you tell them?
MARA
Yeah.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
Tell me.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
F.B.I. and Police vehicles roll into a cemetery past a sign that reads MOUNTAINSIDE CEMETARY. Scene switches to SAM is in the ground digging up the grave of Nurse Glockner while DEAN is standing on the side holding a flashlight. SWAT team comes out of the vehicles and so does AGENT HENRIKSEN. SAM hits something solid and looks up at DEAN.
SAM
Got her.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - NIGHT
DEACON is splashing water in his face and the camera comes around to rest on the clock. It stops ticking. The lights over the mirrors start to flicker as DEACON wipes off his face. When he takes the paper towel away from his face, a puff of steam comes out of his mouth. He turns around and sees the ghost of NURSE GLOCKNER right behind him. She nods her head, and he goes flying back across the floor.
DEACON
Aah!
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
AGENT HENRICKSEN is leading the search with his gun drawn. SAM pours salt on the remains of NURSE GLOCKNER. The officers looking for DEAN and SAM move forward.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - NIGHT
DEACON turns over to see NURSE GLOCKNER come towards him, a wind ruffling both of their hair. She kneels quickly and puts her hand on his chest. DEACON struggles against her.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
DEAN is pouring the gasoline on the remains now.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - NIGHT
NURSE GLOCKNER leans down over DEACON as he grunts in pain.
NURSE GLOCKNER
You let those two go.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
SAM lights a match over the grave.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - NIGHT
DEACON grunts in pain as NURSE GLOCKNER still has her hand over his heart.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
SAM drops the match into the grave, and it lights on fire.
INT. PRISON BATHROOM - NIGHT
DEACON's veins start to show on his face, but NURSE GLOCKNER gasps and backs away from him, standing up and bursting into flames as she yells. DEACON rolls over and looks around, clutching his chest.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
SAM and DEAN watch the remains burn as Rooster by Alice in Chains plays and continues through the next sequences. Camera goes to AGENT HENRICKSEN and the officers and SWAT make their way through the cemetery, and reach the end, where no more graves are.
AGENT HENRICKSEN
You sure this is the right damn cemetery?
AGENT REIDY
She said Mountainside. Mountainside Cemetary. AGENT HENRICKSEN looks around to see nothing.
EXT. CEMETARY - NIGHT
The camera pans up on a sign that reads GREEN VALLEY CEMETARY as SAM and DEAN make their way back to toward the car with their flashlights and shovels.
EXT. LITTLE ROCK POLICE STATION - NIGHT
MARA comes out of the police station and heads to her car, deactivating the alarm as she goes. When she goes to get in her car, she smiles and nods her head.
EXT. MOUNTAINSIDE CEMETARY - NIGHT
AGENT HENRICKSEN takes a step forward and smile and shakes his head, figuring that the lawyer gave them the wrong cemetery.
EXT. GREEN VALLEY CEMETARY - NIGHT
SAM and DEAN put the rest of their stuff in the trunk and walk to the doors of the Impala.
SAM
You thought we were screwed before.
DEAN
Yeah, yeah. I know, we gotta go deep this time.
SAM looks at him skeptically.
SAM
Deep, Dean? We should go to Yemen.
DEAN
Oh, I'm- I'm not sure I'm ready to go that deep.
They get into the car and drive away as the music rises.
