EXT. HIGHWAY SHARP CURVE - NIGHT

Music plays on radio.

MOLLY
We're lost.

DAVID
No, this is a short cut.

MOLLY
Babe, it's just that we've been on this road over an hour. We haven't seen a single car.

DAVID
Molly, I know how to read a frigging map. Okay?

MOLLY
We passed that gas station. Let's just go ask someone.

DAVID
That was forty minutes ago. We're not turning around.

MOLLY
Come on. Isn't this argument a little archaic? Men can ask directions these days.

DAVID
Oh, no, no, we can't. It's against our genetic code. Look, I know exactly where we are.

MOLLY
Oh, yeah. Where?

DAVID
Hwy 99, okay? It cuts right through.

FLASH TO THEM PASSING A SIGN READING HIGHWAY 41

MOLLY
Highway 99?

DAVID
Okay so we're taking the scenic route.

MOLLY
David. It's our anniversary and we're spending it stuck in the car.

DAVID
I know. I'm sorry. Hey, let me make it up to you, okay? Come here.

DAVID leans over and nuzzles MOLLY on the neck.

MOLLY
No. Stop. I'm mad at you.

DAVID
Oh come on. Hey, you love me.

MOLLY
No, I don't. You're a jerk.

MOLLY
David, I mean it!

Molly turns away from looking at the road to push David away.

DAVID
(laughing)
Ha, ha,
(He then looks down the road and sees something)
Molly!

A man is standing in the road in their direct path. Molly screams and braces herself for impact.

DAVID
Look out!

MOLLY turns the wheel and the car goes off the road down a steep edge. The car smashes into a tree.

CUT TO: CAR IN THE BOTTOM OF A RAVINE.

Inside the car MOLLY is waking up. She's alone. MOLLY repeats DAVID name getting out of the car. She begins shouting for DAVID. MOLLY walks through the wintry bare forest still calling for David. She sees a small wooden building with a light on. She knocks on the door.

MOLLY
Hello? Anyone here?

MOLLY
(opens the door)
Hello?

INT. HUNTING SHED - NIGHT

Walking inside she sees blood stains an metal implements on the wall. The man from early is standing at the end of the room turned away from her. The camera shows us that his stomach is torn with his intestines showing.

MOLLY
Sir?

The man turns and his face slowly transforms into rotting flesh and maggots.

END TEASER

EXT. FOREST

MOLLY is running wildly through the forest with the pine trees grasping at her. She makes it to the highway and sees a car in the distance at a curve. She runs out in the highway.

MOLLY
(to the oncoming car)
Stop!

We see flashes of the vehicle and recognize it as the IMPALA as its tires screech. DEAN is in the driver's seat, surprised, and trying to stop the IMPALA.

DEAN
Holy!

DEAN gets the IMPALA stopped less than a foot from MOLLY. MOLLY is holding her hands out as if she could stop the vehicle that way. She gasps relieved they stopped.

MOLLY
You've gotta help me.

MOLLY runs over to the passenger side and begins smacking her hand against the window urgently.

MOLLY
Please. Please.

SAM
(rolling down his window)
All right, all right, calm down. Calm down. Tell us what happened?

MOLLY
I swerved and we crashed. And when I came to...uh, the car was wrecked. My husband was missing. I went looking for him, but that's when the man from the road, he started chasing me. He's...he..

DEAN
Did he look like he lost a fight with a lawn mower?

MOLLY
How did you know that?

DEAN
Lucky guess.

SAM
Ma'am, what's your name?

MOLLY
Molly. Molly McNamara.

SAM
Molly, look. I think maybe you should come with us. We'll take you back into town.

MOLLY
I can't. I have to find David. He might've gone back to the car.

SAM
Well, we should get you somewhere safe first. Dean and I will come back here. We'll look for your husband.

MOLLY
No. I'm not leaving here without him.

SAM and DEAN give each other worried looks.

MOLLY
Would you just take me back to my car, please?

DEAN shrugs as if the easiest thing to do is to give in to her wishes. SAM makes a face and sighs.

SAM
Of course. Come on.

They drive to the place where MOLLY drove off the road. They get out and head towards the steep edge.

MOLLY
It's right over there.

As they shine their flashlights and look, they see nothing but dirt and patches of snow.

MOLLY
I'm sure this where it was. We hit that tree right there. This doesn't make any sense.

As DEAN and SAM shine their flashlights and look into the forest for anything, MOLLY begins to make her way down to the spot. DEAN turns to SAM with a worried look.

SAM
Dean, we gotta get out of here. Greeley could show up at any second.

DEAN
What are you gonna tell her?

SAM
The truth.

DEAN
She's gonna take off running in the other direction.

MOLLY
I know it sounds crazy, but I crashed into that tree. I don't know who could've taken it. It was totaled.

SAM and DEAN continue looking as if they have stopped listening to her explanation. MOLLY realizes how frantic she sounds. She tries to get a hold of her emotions and speak more calmly.

MOLLY
Please, you have to believe me.

SAM
Listen, we do believe you, all right? That's why we wanna get you out of here.

MOLLY
But what about David? Something must of happened. I have to get to the cops.

DEAN
Cops. That's a great idea. We'll take you down to the station ourselves, okay? So just come with us. It's the best way we can help you and your husband.

MOLLY takes one final look at where the car should be and nods.

MOLLY
Okay.

CUT TO: THE IMPALA DRIVING DOWN THE DARK HIGHWAY

The headlights barely illuminate the icy road. MOLLY is the backseat.

MOLLY
We were supposed to be in Lake Tahoe.

SAM
You and David?

MOLLY
It's our five year anniversary.

DEAN
A hell of an anniversary.

MOLLY
Right before, we were having the dumbest fight. It's the only time we ever argue, when we're stuck in the car.

SAM
Yeah, I know how that goes.

Dean gives Sam a grumpy look.

MOLLY
You know the last thing I said to him? I called him a jerk. Oh, God. What if that's the last thing I said to him?

SAM
Molly. We're gonna figure out what happened to your husband. I promise.

MOLLY grimaces but nods. The radio spontaneously begins to buzz and then play music. The same song that was playing in MOLLY's car earlier.

DEAN
(confused)
Did you?

SAM
No.

DEAN
Great. I was afraid you'd say that.

MOLLY
(leaning forward, troubled)
This song...

DEAN
What?

MOLLY
It was playing when we crashed.

DEAN looks at SAM who stares back as if he too realizes something significant. SAM swallows. The music stops and a voice crackles over the radio.

VOICE
She's mine. She's mine. She's mine.

MOLLY
What is that?

CUT TO: THE HIGHWAY

A man is standing in the highway directly in their path. SAM's eyes widen. MOLLY looks on in horror afraid for impact. Only DEAN remains unfazed by the fact a man is in their lane.

DEAN
Hold on.

DEAN pushes down on the accelerator. The IMPALA roars as it speed up. SAM braces himself.

MOLLY
What are you doing?

The IMPALA drives through the man and he turns into a cloud of black dust. All three of them turn around in shock of what happened.

MOLLY
What the? What the hell just happened?

SAM
Don't worry, Molly. Everything's gonna be all right.

The IMPALA's engine begins to cut out.

DEAN
You spoke a little too soon, Sammy.

DEAN pulls the vehicle to the side of the road. He turns the ignition, but the engine won't start. SAM is extremely worried.

DEAN
I don't think he's gonna let her leave.

The realization sinks in and MOLLY leans back in the seat.

EXT. HIGHWAY

They get out of the car. DEAN head to open the trunk.

MOLLY
This can't be happening.

DEAN
Well, trust me. It's happening.

DEAN gets the weapon's trunk open and wedges the sawed off shotgun in the corner to hold it open. MOLLY sees all the weapons. Visibly disturbed, she backs away.

MOLLY
Well, okay. Thanks for helping, but I think I got it covered from here.

SAM
Wait, Molly, wait a minute.

MOLLY
Just leave me alone.

SAM
No. You have to listen to me.

MOLLY
Just stay away.

SAM
It wasn't a coincidence that we found you, all right?

MOLLY
What are you talking about?

DEAN
We weren't just cruising for chicks when we ran into you, sister. We were already out here. Hunting.

MOLLY
Hunting for what?

DEAN
Ghosts.

DEAN turns and heads back to the IMPALA. SAM is exasperated at DEAN.

SAM
Don't sugarcoat it for her.

MOLLY
You're nuts.

DEAN
Really? About as nuts as a vanishing guy with his guts spilling out.

MOLLY doesn't have anything to say. DEAN grins and shrugs.

DEAN
You know what you saw.

SAM upset at how callous DEAN is and how troubled Molly is, explains.

SAM
We think his name is Jonah Greeley. He was a local farmer that died 15 years ago on this highway.

MOLLY
Just stop.

SAM
One night a year, on the anniversary of his death he haunts this road. That's why we're here Molly. To try and stop him.

MOLLY
(is not buying this explanation)
Yeah, I suppose this ghost made my car disappear too.

DEAN
Crazier things have happened, huh?

MOLLY
You know what? I'm all filled up on crazy. I'm gonna get the cops myself.

DEAN
I don't mean to be harsh, but I don't think you're gonna get too far.

MOLLY
What's that supposed to mean?

DEAN
It means that Plan A was trying to get you out of here. Obviously, that didn't go over too well with, uh, Farmer Roadkill.

SAM
Molly we're telling you the truth. Greeley's not gonna let you leave this highway.

MOLLY
You're se...? You're serious about this, aren't you?

DEAN
Deadly.

SAM
Every year, Greeley finds someone to punish for what happened to him. Tonight, that person is you.

MOLLY
Why me? I didn't do anything?

SAM
It doesn't matter. Some spirits only see what they want.

MOLLY
So you're saying this Greeley, he took my husband?

SAM can't answer. MOLLY assumes the worst.

MOLLY
Oh, God.

DEAN stoically glances away from MOLLY to SAM.

SAM
Molly, look, we're gonna help, all right? But first, you gotta help us.

DEAN nods at SAM's handling of the situation and grins.

MOLLY
Help you? How?

INT. HUNTING CABIN - NIGHT

DEAN flashes his light inside.

MOLLY
This is it. This is where I saw him.

DEAN steps into the building looking around.

DEAN
Must have been his hunting cabin.

DEAN
Huh. Seems like a real sweet guy.

SAM finally makes his way into the building.

SAM
No markers or headstones outside.

MOLLY
You're looking for Greeley's grave?

SAM
Yeah.

MOLLY
Why?

DEAN
So we can dig up the corpse and salt and burn it.

MOLLY
Oh, sure. Naturally.

SAM
It's a way to get rid of a spirit.

MOLLY
And that'll save David?

SAM
Well, this is what'll help both of you. Provided there's a corpse to be found.

MOLLY
So how do we find it?

SAM
I'm not sure. After Greeley died, his wife claimed the body. That's the last anyone saw of her. Good guess she brought him back here. But they had a thousand acres. He could be buried anywhere on them.

MOLLY
So this is really what you guys do. You're like Ghostbusters.

DEAN
Yeah, minus the jumpsuits. Look, lady, this is a fascinating conversation and all but this highway's only haunted once a year. And we got till sunup to wrap this thing up. What do you say we move it along? Okay? Great.

EXT. FOREST - NIGHT

MOLLY
What are we looking for?

SAM
Greeley's house. Maybe he's buried there. Look for roads or paths or something. Stay close.

MOLLY
Yeah. Okay.

The wind whispers: "Molly. Help me. Molly."

MOLLY
David? David? David?

GREELEY grabs MOLLY. MOLLY shrieks. Suddenly DEAN is there with a shotgun to GREELEY's head.

DEAN
Whoops.

Full view shot as DEAN pulls the trigger. The rocksalt explodes from the gun and GREELEY dematerializes. MOLLY gasps and in a daze gets up off the ground. SAM having heard the gunshot runs to the scene.

SAM
Hey, are you all right?

SAM runs past MOLLY to see how DEAN is.

SAM
Just take it easy, all right? You're gonna see David again. You will.

DEAN
Hey. Follow the creepy brick road.

SAM
Go ahead.

MOLLY
That thing shoots rock salt?

SAM
Yep.

MOLLY
And plain salt keeps away spirits?

SAM
Simple remedies are always the best. Most cultures, salt's a symbol of purity so it repels impure and unnatural things. Same reason you throw it over your shoulder.

At the end of the path is a dilapidated house.

DEAN
You know, just once I'd like to round the corner and see a nice house.

INT. HOUSE - NIGHT

SAM
Any headstones outside?

DEAN
Yeah right. Is it ever that easy?

SAM
No, I guess not.

DEAN
You two check upstairs. See if you can find notes or records where he's buried. I'll just check down here.

SAM
All right.

CUT TO: UPSTAIRS

Scattered documents cover the floor.

SAM
Great.

MOLLY picks up a scrapbook by the window.

MOLLY
Look at this. It's Greeley and his wife. It's a love letter he wrote her.

THE GREELEY LOVE LETTER:

Dearest Marion
It has been a while since have written one of these to you. Perhaps the last one was before you and I were wed. Last night as I was looking at the moon I thought I saw your face in it. I can't remember to a day I have not know you. That there was once a world where the sun rose and set and I did not know you were breathing under it. I sometimes take a walk through the hills and over that lookout the one high up around the five curves and I just look out the sky and feel so lucky have met you. I don't know what my life would be without marrying. I hope that life treats us well. Your heart and my heart make a whole. I feel my wants travel through life as me. I am lost without you to wake up to every morning and hold every night. I don't know who I am.
You are my queen.
All my love
Jonah, xxxooo

MOLLY (cont'd)
My god it's beautiful. I don't understand how a guy like this can turn into that monster.

SAM
Uh... spirits like Greeley are, uh, like wounded animals. Lost. In so much pain that they lash out.

MOLLY
Why? Why are they here?

SAM
Well there's some part of them that's keeping them here. Like their remains, or, um...unfinished business.

MOLLY
Unfinished business?

SAM
It could be revenge. It could be love or hate. Whatever it is, they just hold on too tight. Can't let go. So they are trapped. Caught in the same loops. Replaying the same tragedies over and over.

MOLLY
You sound almost sorry for them.

SAM
Well, they weren't evil people. You know, the... A lot of them were good. Just something happened to them. Something they couldn't control.

DEAN
Sammy's always getting a little J. Love Hewitt when it comes to things like this. Me, I don't like them and I sure as hell ain't making apologies for them. There's nothing down stairs. You find anything?

SAM
Uh, just about every piece of mail or receipt they ever had. Looked through a couple, but nothing about a grave so far.

DEAN spots something.

SAM
What?

DEAN
There's something behind here. Here.

DEAN tosses his flashlight to SAM and moves a heavy desk out of the way. DEAN stoops down and we see a small door. DEAN hits on it, but it doesn't budge.

DEAN
It's locked from the inside.

DEAN turns around kicks the door open and crawls through.

DEAN
It smells like old lady in here.

DEAN shine's his flashlight onto a dried out corpse. It appears to be a woman who has hung herself.

DEAN
And that would explain why. Well, now we know why nobody ever saw her again.

MOLLY
She didn't want to live without him.

SAM
Dean give me a hand.

DEAN
Really?

MOLLY
What are you going to do?

SAM
We can't leave her like this.

DEAN
Why not?

SAM
She deserves to be put to rest, Dean.

DEAN
Son of a...

EXT. GREELEY HOUSE - NIGHT

SAM and DEAN are digging a grave.

MOLLY
So if you manage to put Greeley to rest too, what happens to him?

DEAN
Lady, that answer is way beyond our pay grade.

MOLLY
You hunt these things but you don't know what happens to them?

DEAN
They never come back. That's all that matters.

SAM
After they let go of whatever is keeping them here, they just go. I hope someplace better, but we don't know. No one does.

MOLLY
What happens when you burn their bones?

SAM
Uhm. Well, my dad used to say that it was like death for ghosts, you know? But the truth is, we still don't know, not for sure. I guess that's why we all hold onto life so hard. Even the dead. We're all just scared of the unknown.

MOLLY
The only thing I'm scared of is losing David. I have to see him again. I have to.

INT. GREELEY HOUSE - NIGHT

MOLLY is still looking at the scrapbook.

SAM
I think we should tell her about her husband.

DEAN
We can't.

SAM
Dean, it's cruel, letting her pine for him like this. I don't like keeping her in the dark.

DEAN
It's for her own good. I know you feel guilty, but lets just stick to the plan. Lets get her out of here, then we'll tell.

MOLLY
Tell me what? What aren't you telling me.

DEAN and SAM can't answer.

MOLLY
It's about David. You know what happened to him.

SAM
Molly.

DEAN
Sam, don't.

MOLLY
Don't what? Don't tell me because I'll mess up your hunt? You don't care about me or my husband.

SAM
That's not true.

MOLLY
Really? Then whatever it is, tell me, please.

SAM can't find the words. Radio static and then the station tunes to the song.

MOLLY
He's coming.

DEAN
Stay with her.

DEAN uncovers an old cobwebby jukebox playing. He then finds the cord of it is cut. Frost covers up a glass window leaving the words "She's Mine" visible. GREELEY breaks through a glass window and grabs MOLLY.

SAM
Dean! He's got Molly.

SAM and DEAN jump out the broken window and race through the forest looking for MOLLY. They reach a clearing unable to find either.

INT. GREELEY HOUSE - NIGHT

DEAN
This guy is persistent.

SAM
We gotta find Molly

DEAN
We gotta find Greeley's bones. And, uh, no pressure or anything but we got less than two hours before sunrise.

SAM
Hey!

DEAN
What do you got?

SAM
Uh, February 6, 1992.

DEAN
That was like two weeks before the accident, wasn't it?

SAM
Yeah. I mean, it looks like the hunting cabin but I swear there's a tree there right where they're standing. Oh. I should have thought of it.

DEAN
What?

SAM
It's an old country custom, Dean. Planting a tree as a grave marker.

DEAN
You're like a walking encyclopedia of weirdness.

SAM
Yeah, I know.

INT. HUNTING SHED - NIGHT

MOLLY
(hands are tied up above her head as she hangs)
Where's David? What did you do to him?

GREELEY
You shouldn't worry about him anymore.

MOLLY
Oh, my God.

GREELEY
You should worry about yourself.

MOLLY
I didn't do anything to you.

GREELEY
Oh?

MOLLY
No. I know about your wife. Hurting me won't bring her back.

GREELEY
My wife is gone. All I got left is hurting you.

GREELEY scratches MOLLY and she screams in pain.

MOLLY
Please. Please, just let me go.

GREELEY
Go? You're not gonna leave. You're never gonna leave.

EXT. HUNTING SHED - NIGHT

SAM and DEAN hear MOLLY's screams and see her through the window.

SAM
Go get Molly.

DEAN heads towards the cabin. SAM goes towards the tree with a shovel.

INT. SHED - NIGHT

MOLLY scared looking at GREELEY. A shotgun blast and GREELEY disappears revealing DEAN behind him holding his sawed off shotgun.

MOLLY
Oh, thank God.

DEAN
Yeah. Call me Dean.

Greeley rises and telekinetically slashes Dean's face.

DEAN
This guy is really pissing me off.

DEAN turns to face him. GREELEY telekinetically throws DEAN across the room.

EXT. SHED - NIGHT

SAM digging up the tree. SAM has found some bones.

INT. SHED - NIGHT

GREELEY pulls a knife from the wall and heads toward DEAN.

EXT. SHED - NIGHT

SAM working furiously pouring gasoline and lighting a match and tossing it in.

INT. SHED - NIGHT

DEAN continues to struggle with GREELEY.

EXT. SHED - NIGHT

The flames engulf the bones.

INT. SHED - NIGHT

GREELEY pulls away as he begins to burn from the feet up. He screams, completely goes up in flames, and the knife he was holding falls to the floor point down.

EXT. HIGHWAY - NIGHT

SAM, DEAN, and MOLLY are walking to the IMPALA. DEAN reaches it first.

DEAN
Oh, baby, it's been a long night.

SAM
All right, lets get you out of here.

MOLLY
I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what happened to my husband.

SAM
(at a loss for words)
Molly.

MOLLY
All this time I've been looking for him and you knew that... You knew that Greeley killed him, didn't you?

Sam sighs.

MOLLY
He's dead.

SAM
No, Molly. David's alive.

MOLLY
What? You're sure.

SAM
I'm sure.

SAM
We'll take you to him. C'mon.

MOLLY smiles in shock and happiness and gets into the backseat of the IMPALA. DEAN is already in the driver's seat. MOLLY sits in the back and lets out a little laugh of relief.

CUT TO: A NICE HOUSE LIT - NIGHT

The IMPALA pulls to a stop across the street.

SAM
He's in that house, right there.

MOLLY
I don't understand.

SAM
You will.

DEAN looks at SAM questioning if they are ready. SAM sorrowfully meets DEAN's glance. DEAN finally gets out the car. SAM and MOLLY follow suit.

MOLLY rushes up the walk towards the lit house, anxious and expectant. Inside, DAVID is calmly making coffee the kitchen in a night robe as if it was any ordinary night. MOLLY is confused.

MOLLY
That's... not...
DAVID appears more heavy set than youthful as he slowly pours coffee and picks up the newspaper on the counter. MOLLY is really confused now.

MOLLY
It can't be.

SAM is really tore up at this point. Even DEAN looks regretful. SAM and DEAN each begin as if to say something.

CUT TO:

David again and he turns as if he hears something. A huge smile washes over his face as a dark haired woman in a bathrobe loving comes up to him. They kiss.

CUT TO:

MOLLY is disgusted and turns for answers.

MOLLY
What's happening? Who is that?

The boys don't know where to begin.

SAM
That's David's wife.

MOLLY tries to process what was said about her husband. She turns back to look at the house and then back to the boys.

SAM
We're sorry, Molly.

MOLLY shakes her head that she doesn't understand.

SAM
Fifteen years ago, you and your husband hit JONAH GREELEY with your car. DAVID survived.

MOLLY
What are you saying?

DEAN
We're saying that there isn't just one spirit haunting Highway 41. There are two. Jonah Greeley and you.

SAM
For the past 15 years, one night a year you've been appearing on that highway.

MOLLY
No, that's impossible. It was our anniversary, February 22nd.

SAM
1992.

MOLLY
Yes.

DEAN
Molly, it's 2007.

MOLLY actually begins to process what's happening and light washes over her.

FLASHBACK - INT. IMPALA

DEAN and SAM are driving down Highway 41, before they meet MOLLY.

DEAN
All right, tell me about Highway 41.

SAM
Twelve accidents over 15 years. Five of them fatal. All of them happening on the same night.

DEAN
What are we looking at? Interstate dead zone? Phantom hitchhiker? What?

SAM
Not quite. I mean, year after year, witnesses said the same thing made them crash. A woman appearing in the middle of the road being chased by a man covered in blood.

DEAN
Two spooks?

SAM makes a big face like that's as good a guess as anything.

FLASHBACK - INT. LIBRARY

DEAN is looking over SAM's shoulder as they check the microfilm. We see the headline of the Nevada City newspaper, "Tragic Accident Kills 2 on Highway 41. There are two dark pictures, GREELEY is immediately recognizable. DEAN nods that they are the right track.

FLASHBACK - INT. DAVID'S HOUSE

DAVID has a tortured look on his face as he's talking to DEAN.

DEAN
Now where is Molly buried?

DAVID
She--She wasn't buried anywhere. She was cremated.

FLASHBACK - EXT. DAVID'S HOUSE

SAM and DEAN is walking out of the house wearing their insurance men bad suit and coat disguises.

DEAN
So much for burning her bones.

SAM
Yeah, but then what's keeping her here?

FLASH TO AN AERIAL VIEW OF MOLLY'S CRASHED CAR.

We see MOLLY through the broken windshield just waking up.

FLASH TO DAVID IN THE CAR AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT

DAVID
Molly!

FLASH OF GREELEY IN THE ROAD

MOLLY screaming.

FLASH TO MOLLY IN THE CRASHED CAR AGAIN

She shakes her head remembering. We then see the car as goes down the steep hill. Flash it smashes into a tree. Flash the airbags activating. Back to MOLLY in the crashed car.

FLASH TO SAM EARLIER TALKING TO MOLLY

SAM
Some spirits only see what they want.

FLASH TO HER IN THE CAR

FLASH TO MOLLY SHOUTING FOR DAVID IN THE WOODS

FLASH TO HER IN THE CAR

FLASH TO MOLLY SEEING IMPALA IN THE DISTANCE AND RUNNING INTO THE HIGHWAY.

MOLLY
Stop! Stop!

DEAN
Holy!

FLASH TO THE IMPALA STOPPING IN TIME LIKE IT DID BEFORE WITH MOLLY RELIEVED.

FLASH TO MOLLY FROM IN FRONT OF THE CAR

MOLLY
You have to help me.

CUT TO: SAM AND DEAN INSIDE THE CAR

SAM
Dean, I don't think she knows she's dead.

DEAN looks at SAM in disbelief. MOLLY beats on the window.

MOLLY
Please. Open up, please?

SAM
Okay. All right, alright, just calm down. Tell us what happened.

FLASH TO DEAN LATER OUTSIDE THE IMPALA

What are you going to tell her?

SAM
The truth.

DEAN
She's going to take off running in the other direction.

FLASH TO SAM AND MOLLY IN THE GREELEY HOME

SAM
Some spirits hold on too tight. Can't let go.

END FLASHBACKS

DEAN and SAM each with compassion on their faces.

MOLLY
And Greeley?

SAM
Each year he punishes somebody for his death. Uh, chasing them, torturing them. And each year that somebody is you.

MOLLY
But I don't remember any of it.

SAM
Because you couldn't see the truth Molly.

MOLLY
So that's why he won't let me off the highway. Because I... killed him.I killed us both.

EXT. NICE NEIGHBORHOOD - ALMOST DAWN

MOLLY
Why didn't you tell me when you first saw me? Why wait until now?

DEAN
You wouldn't have believed us.

MOLLY
And you needed me for bait.

DEAN looks away embarrassed.

SAM
Well, we needed you.

MOLLY
David.

SAM
Molly, we brought you here so you could move on.

MOLLY
No, I have to tell him.

SAM
Tell him what? That you love him? That you're sorry? Molly, he already knows that. Look, if you want to go in there, we're not gonna stop you.

DEAN
Yeah, but you are going to freak him right out...for life.

MOLLY looks upset.

SAM
David's already said his goodbyes, Molly. Now it's your turn. This is your unfinished business.

MOLLY
What am I supposed to do?

SAM
Just... let go... of David, of everything. You do that, we think you'll move on.

MOLLY
But you don't know where?

SAM
(regretfully)
No. But Molly you don't belong here. Haven't you suffered long enough? It's time. It's time to go.

MOLLY chokes back a sob and nods. She looks towards DEAN who looks down not wanting to face her tears. She looks at SAM who nods in encouragement. MOLLY turns and steps away from the boys towards the end of the street. The end of the street is still bright, but now the sun begins to shine as it rises through the trees and houses. MOLLY steps forward step by step towards the light fracturing its way through the trees at the end of the street. The light becomes almost blinding as MOLLY walks into full view of the sun and blocks our eyes from the true source of it. The sun is bright on her face as MOLLY looks up in awe and still fear. As she closes her eyes the sun becomes unbearably bright, engulfing her from the chest outward. MOLLY's body becomes consumed as the light breaks her form up. And then she is gone and the light doesn't appear dazzling. It seems like normal dawn.

EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD STREET - DAY

DEAN
I guess she wasn't so bad... for a ghost.

Sam doesn't speak still awash with emotion.

DEAN
Do you think she's really going to a better place?

SAM
I hope so.

DEAN
I guess we'll never know. Not until we take the plunge ourselves, huh?

SAM
Doesn't really matter Dean. Hope is kind of the whole point.

DEAN
All right, Haley Joel.
(Pats SAM on the back)
Lets hit the road.

DEAN walks off and SAM touches on the pain briefly before taking another long look at the end of the street where the sun must still be rising. We can see his tortured wonder.

We see the IMPALA across the street as they walk towards it. DEAN reaches the driver's side first and gets in.
